SilentDirect PET 500x500mm second-grade – effective sound absorption at a lower price
SilentDirect PET 500x500mm second-grade is a cost-effective sound absorber that combines durability with high acoustic performance. The product is made from recycled polyester and offers the same sound-absorbing properties as the first-grade version, but is sold at a reduced price due to minor aesthetic variations. A smart solution for offices, schools, studios, and home environments where functionality is the top priority.
Same sound absorption – minor aesthetic variations
SilentDirect PET second-grade provides the same acoustic performance as the standard version. The panel is 9 mm thick with a density of approximately 1800 g/m², which means it effectively reduces reverberation and dampens disruptive sound reflections in small to medium-sized rooms. What sets this product apart is that it may have minor variations in appearance, such as color variations, surface defects, dimensional deviations, or edge damage that exceed our standard tolerance of ±1–3 mm. However, these do not affect sound absorption.
Sustainable material choice with unique character
Each panel is made from at least 30% recycled material, primarily PET bottles and recycled industrial felt. This means that every product has a unique appearance—the front and back may differ in texture and color tone. The panel is 100% recyclable, free from harmful substances, odorless, and resistant to mold. A climate-smart choice for indoor environments with high air quality requirements.
Bi-component fiber for improved absorption
SilentDirect PET is manufactured with bicomponent fiber, which provides a more open fiber network than standard molded polyester. The improved pore structure allows sound waves to be absorbed more effectively—a crucial property for reducing reverberation in rooms with hard surfaces. The product is also dimensionally stable, easy to work with, and simple to adapt to various needs.
Wall or ceiling installation – flexible options
SilentDirect PET 500x500mm second-grade panels can be installed in several ways depending on the substrate and application.
Wall installation
Installation is simple and can be adapted to your surface. SilentDirect PET can be installed using:
- fast-curing mounting adhesive
- double-sided tape (wall only)
- brackets
- Velcro
- wallpaper adhesive, fabric adhesive, or wall adhesive
- visible screws
- concealed screws (screw head countersunk into the material)
- hot glue
- nails, brad nails, or staples (at least 27 mm long)
Visible screws can also be used as a design element in creative or industrial settings.
Ceiling installation
For ceiling installation, the following methods are recommended:
- fast-curing mounting adhesive
- brackets
- exposed or hidden screws
- nails, brad nails, or staples (at least 27 mm long)
We do not recommend using double-sided tape on ceilings.
Ideal for creative or cost-conscious solutions
This second-grade product is perfect for projects where function takes priority over aesthetic perfection—for example, in studios, technical spaces, workrooms, or sound labs. The panels can be used individually or combined to cover larger areas, providing a cost-effective way to improve acoustics without compromising on environmental considerations or performance.
