Sound-absorbing panels – effective acoustics in an artistic form

The acoustic environment affects how we experience a room more than we often realize. In environments with hard surfaces, sound can bounce between walls, ceilings, and floors, leading to echoes, stress, and poorer communication. With sound-absorbing panels from SilentDirect, you get a solution that combines reliable sound absorption with a visual aesthetic that blends seamlessly into the interior design. The panels reduce sound reflections and contribute to a softer, more balanced soundscape while also serving as decorative works of art.

Unlike traditional acoustic panels, sound-absorbing panels are designed to become a natural part of the room’s aesthetic. They improve acoustic comfort without appearing technical and are therefore equally suitable for private settings as well as public and professional environments.

Noticeable sound reduction and improved room acoustics

SilentDirect’s sound-absorbing panels are designed to effectively absorb sound waves and reduce reverberation in rooms with surfaces such as glass, concrete, drywall, or wood. When reflections are dampened, the room feels quieter and clearer, which makes a significant difference for conversations, work, and general comfort. Speech intelligibility improves, background noise feels less intrusive, and the overall sound level becomes more pleasant.

This type of acoustic improvement is particularly valuable in environments where many people are present at the same time or where the room is used for multiple purposes. By combining several panels, the sound environment can be adapted to the room’s size and needs without requiring changes to the floor plan.

Flexible acoustic solution for many different environments

Sound-absorbing panels are used today in a wide variety of environments. In the home, they contribute to a quieter living room, a more focused home office, or a bedroom with a softer soundscape. In schools and educational settings, they improve the acoustics in classrooms and common areas, facilitating both teaching and learning.

In workplaces, the panels create better acoustic comfort in offices, meeting rooms, and open spaces. In restaurants, hotels, and conference settings, they contribute to a more pleasant atmosphere where guests can converse without having to raise their voices. In studios and creative environments, sound-absorbing panels are used to create a more controlled and balanced soundscape that benefits both work and creativity.

Premium printing with high color accuracy and long-lasting durability

All sound-absorbing panels from SilentDirect are produced using HP Latex technology, which ensures high color accuracy, sharp details, and smooth tonal transitions. Printing is done with water-based, odorless, and GREENGUARD Gold-certified inks that are safe to use even in sensitive indoor environments. Resolution is adjusted up to 300 DPI depending on the format, providing a detailed and professional reproduction of every design.

The colors are UV-resistant and retain their vibrancy even in bright rooms with large windows or strong lighting. Because the ink blends into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it, a durable and flexible surface is created that maintains its visual appeal over time.

Choice of canvas – polyester or cotton

SilentDirect offers sound-absorbing panels with two different types of canvas, both weighing 260 g/m². The polyester canvas provides a smooth and modern surface with very high color accuracy and excellent UV resistance. It is easy to maintain and can be gently wiped with a soft, slightly damp cloth if necessary, making it suitable for environments with higher cleaning requirements.

The cotton fabric, on the other hand, has a more matte texture with natural warmth and a more artistic, hand-painted character. The vivid texture adds depth to the image and is particularly well-suited for environments where a softer look is desired. To preserve the natural surface, dry wiping is recommended. Regardless of the fabric choice, HP Latex inks provide a durable surface with long-lasting color vibrancy.

Acoustic core with documented performance

The sound-absorbing function is based on a high-density acoustic core, made from at least 50 percent recycled polyester. The core material has a density of approximately 450–600 g/m² and is designed to effectively capture sound waves and reduce reverberation in the room. This contributes to better concentration, improved speech intelligibility, and a more pleasant acoustic environment.

A 4 mm protective panel made of CE-, M1-, and PEFC-certified wood is mounted on the back of each panel. The panel provides stability, protects the acoustic core, and contributes to a dimensionally stable and durable construction. The combination of canvas fabric, core material, and protective panel provides even and effective sound absorption across the entire surface.

Stable frame, precise canvas tension, and professional finish

Each sound-absorbing panel is mounted on a solid pine frame for high stability and long service life. Smaller sizes up to 70×50 cm feature a 15 mm thick frame, while larger sizes from 90×60 cm and up are mounted on a sturdier 20 mm thick frame. The precise canvas tension ensures the panel retains its shape over time without sagging or warping.

The images are printed all the way around the frame, creating an elegant edge print and a polished gallery look. The canvas is thus just as appealing from the side as it is from the front, delivering a professional overall impression in both private and public settings.
