Sound-absorbing bulletin boards – practical soundproofing for better acoustics

Functional sound absorption that improves both peace and order and organization

In offices, schools, and home environments where information needs to be visible and easily accessible, problems with echoes and reverberation often arise. Hard wall surfaces combined with multiple simultaneous sound sources cause sound to reflect and build up in the room. Sound-absorbing bulletin boards are a solution that combines clear communication with effective sound absorption, contributing to a quieter and more functional acoustic environment.

What are sound-absorbing bulletin boards?

Sound-absorbing bulletin boards are constructed from porous materials that capture sound waves and reduce reflections in the room. When sound hits the surface, some of the sound energy is converted into heat energy, which shortens the reverberation time. This differs significantly from sound insulation, which aims to block sound between rooms, and vibration damping, which reduces shaking and structure-borne noise from building structures and installations. Bulletin boards are thus used to improve acoustics where sound is already present.

Common problems with echo and reverberation

Echo and long reverberation are common in meeting rooms, open-plan offices, hallways, and classrooms. Speech becomes harder to understand, background noise feels more stressful, and concentration suffers. In work environments, this can lead to increased stress, poorer communication, and lower efficiency. In home environments, it affects comfort and focus, especially in home offices and shared spaces.

How sound-absorbing solutions work in a room

Sound-absorbing products are placed on surfaces where sound reflections occur, most often on walls at ear level or near work and meeting areas. When sound waves hit the material, they are slowed down and absorbed, creating a more controlled sound environment.

Combination with ceiling absorbers
In larger rooms, the combination of wall and ceiling absorption creates a more even sound distribution.

Complement to curtains and room dividers
Textile surfaces such as curtains and room dividers can enhance the effect by breaking up sound waves from multiple directions.

Why choose sound-absorbing bulletin boards?

Sound-absorbing bulletin boards provide an immediate improvement in room acoustics without requiring structural modifications. They are flexible, space-saving, and serve multiple functions simultaneously. The results are noticeable in the form of improved speech intelligibility, a lower perceived noise level, and a more peaceful working environment. In many environments, they work best as part of a comprehensive solution that combines multiple types of sound absorption.

Well-thought-out advice for best results

For maximum effectiveness, bulletin boards should be placed where sound reflections are most pronounced, such as near workstations or meeting areas. In larger rooms, multiple boards can be used to create sufficient absorptive surface area. A common mistake is to underestimate how much sound absorption is required. By strategically planning their placement, you create a long-term, functional, and pleasant acoustic environment.

Sound-absorbing bulletin boards are therefore an effective and practical choice for anyone who wants to reduce echoes in the room while also creating order, structure, and better acoustics.
